Outstanding Contributions to Digital Development: SATSOL
SATSOL
SATSOL is a recipient of a 2024 ISIF Asia award for Outstanding Contributions to Digital Development for their work connecting Solomon Islands. They received their award on September 4, 2024, at the APNIC 58 Conference in Wellington, New Zealand.
Each awardee received travel support (if they are based outside New Zealand) to attend the conference and 5,000 USD to assist with their work.
SATSOL connected areas of Solomon Islands via innovative means, including "data gardens" which provided solar power connectivity and included payment platforms so that residents of villages did not need to travel extensively to access automated teller machines. SATSOL is also working on rolling out IPv6 to Solomon Islands.
