MISPA-IX is the first and so far, the only layer 2 Internet Exchange Point (IXP) in Mongolia. 

Local networks exchange traffic for locally hosted services over the IX network with low cost and high performance connectivity. Currently MISPA-IX operates with only one Ethernet Switch providing interconnectivity between the participating networks. A second switch ensures a backup redundancy is available, thus providing more sustainable, stable network operations.

This project aims to:

• Build resiliency of the IX service by installing a backup interconnection location.
• Enhance the IX network infrastructure system including a Network Monitoring and Management system (NMS) and information sharing platform
• Deploy a sustainable back-up power generation solution for MISPA-IX infrastructure which is critical for ensuring the continuous operation of the IX
• Organize knowledge and experience sharing activities among local technical community including the IX members and local network engineers
