Myanmar's first Internet Exchange Point (IXP) (award)

Myanmar Internet Exchange Association Inc. (MMIX)

A winner of the ISIF Asia Awards 2023 is MMIX (Myanmar Internet Exchange) for their work developing and operating Myanmar’s first internet exchange point (IXP). As a not-for-profit community-led exchange, it  is carrier and data neutral, providing IP peering facilities for its members.

Since the start of operations in 2017, MMIX has grown to two IXPs and 3 Points of Presence (POPs) with 26 Peer ASNs and plans to extend their network reach to a data centre.

The award was accepted by project lead Thein Myint Khine.

The 2023 ISIF Asia awards included a grant of USD 5,000 to support their work, as well as covering travel costs to attend the 2023 Internet Governance Forum held in Kyoto, Japan.
