FCA: FIRST Asia-Pacific Regional Symposium 2024

Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams (FIRST)

Global, regional, and local networks of capable and trusted partners represents a key foundation for effective incident response. Bringing together trusted, operational communities of practice to share lessons learned, participate in training, and establish or strengthen relationships are an effective means to help build these critical communities. FIRST, APCERT, and other practitioner communities exist across the Asia-Pacific region, however they face many of the same challenges as other ICT and cybersecurity communities, including those of gender diversity and the challenge of limited resources to take advantage of valuable regional and global opportunities.

The FIRST APAC Incident Response Fellowship (IRF) initiative proposes the organization of a fellowship program to support Asia-Pacific incident response practitioners to join the FIRST Asia-Pacific Regional Symposium. The Symposium is being planned in collaboration with the APCERT Annual General Meeting to be hosted in Taipei, Taiwan, in November 2024. The proposal would be to have a shared plenary day on Thursday, 7 November and a training workshop on Friday, 8 November. The APCERT closed-sessions would take place earlier in the week.

The proposed grant funding would be utilized to support five to seven fellows to join the conference and training opportunity to provide direct professional development support as well as help build stronger trust and networks across the participants and with the wider Asia-Pacific incident response community. The fellows will be specifically selected with the aim of increasing the gender diversity at the event and within the regional incident response community.
