FCA: Fellowships and conference support for APIGA 2023
Korea Internet and Security Agency (KISA)
The 2023 Asia Pacific Internet Governance Academy (APIGA 2023) event was held in Seoul, South Korea from 24 to 28 July 2023.
The event welcomed 42 participants to build skills and participate in hands-on learning on topics related to Internet governance and policy.
Event details:
After the COVID-19 pandemic, airfare and accommodations prices increased, which made it difficult for KISA to maintain the numbers of Asia Pacific participants coming from outside Korea.
This funding allowed them to maintain participant numbers, and allowed the to provide airfares for six female participants (from Afghanistan, Bhutan, Indonesia, Mongolia, Myanmar and Pakistan) and keep a similar number of participants. The event had 29 participants from outside Korea, of which 16 were male and 13 were female. There were 13 Korean participants.
KISA also hired five English speaking staff to help participants throughout the entire event, including one MC.
