Empowering Rural ISPs in Indonesia with IPv6 through 464XLAT Technology

Indonesia faces a major digital divide, particularly in rural areas, where new ISPs struggle to offer reliable, scalable Internet services. The challenge is increased by the shortage of IPv4 addresses, which has resulted in policies which limit new organizations to a /23 public IP delegation. Many rural ISPs, often small businesses with limited resources and technical expertise, find it difficult to adopt complex networking solutions like CGNAT. These challenges stunt their growth and negatively impact Internet service quality for thousands of home users and small and medium businesses.
This project aims to help rural ISPs in Indonesia overcome the challenges of limited IPv4 availability and technical hurdles in expanding their Internet services by introducing 464XLAT technology.
This project aims to:
- Support IPv6 adoption to provide scalable efficient Internet services in rural areas and ensure fair access to digital resources.
- Provide comprehensive training for ISPs on effectively deploying and managing IPv6 networks.
- Enhance Internet access and quality for rural communities, contributing socio-economic growth through better connectivity.
This project is an IPv6 Deployment Grant.
