Digital Literacy For the Masses
Janata Wifi
Bangladesh has about 3 million students and young people in national university campuses, it is spread across in 500 plus locations around the country. Almost none of these campuses has public Wi-Fi for students. And students visiting these campuses are from the bottom 80% income group of Bangladesh who need access to high quality affordable internet. Also these same people need digital literacy, helping them make better use of the internet, to build better careers, stay more protected against cybercrime, and be more healthy mentally.
This project aims to push digital literacy contents driven by sponsored public wifi hotspots by digital brands, in the said campus locations. Brands will provide advertisement content regarding their product, and Janta Wifi will provide educational content.
This project aims to:
- Reach 100,000+ end users.
- Provide service primarily in national university campuses to university and high school students, ensuring female students have nearby connectivity.
- Provide content-driven public wifi to improve the digital literacy of the target group.
- Build a scaled showcase of a marketplace where brands sponsor free wi-fi in exchange for reaching the target audience with their content.
