The EcoInternet Index, by DotAsia Organisation, was one of the first recipients of ISIF Asia’s Ian Peter Grants for Internet and the Environment. The project was a very clear fit for the goals of the Ian Peter Grants, which focus on exploring and solving environmental problems caused by the Internet.
The EcoInternet Index considers a range of factors such as the use of renewables and the nature of the economy, and from this it generates a framework that can be used to compare different jurisdictions. It is an ongoing project that continues to foster understanding of how the Internet and the environment interact.
The 2023 Index evaluated 14 jurisdictions, with New Zealand coming out at the top for eco-friendliness.
